How Do I Claim My Ny Income Tax If I Travel For Business (over 70% Out Of Ny)?
I currently work for a firm based out of NY but reside in NJ. I also travel a lot (70%) for business related work so at the end of the year I end up filing my income tax for several states.
My question is in regards to filing IT-203 NonResident for NY state tax form. My W-2 indicates that my wage in NY is the same amount as my federal wage (NY State Regulation). If I were to claim my federal wage as my NY wage on line 1 of the form, it would be in accurate since I did not work in NY the entire year. What is the best way for me to file my income tax for NY? Is there a seperate form (schedule) I need to fill out?

I,m not sure how you would fix that. If your employer put that you earned that amount of money in NY you would think they would have to change the w-2 form. You can go to http://www.tax.state.ny.us/ They have a Q and A. You might find what you need to know there
